A new personalised learning opportunity for the Illawarra
Five Islands Secondary College (FISC) is a NSW Department of Education public school for
students seeking a personalised and supportive approach to their education.
In 2018 we are joining with Big Picture Education to bring their innovative passion-based learning design to young people in the Illawarra.
Research tells us that we learn best when we are personally motivated. Where there is passion for what we are doing, deep knowledge evolves naturally.
Underpinning Big Picture Education's approach is the belief that each student has a unique set of interests, needs and capabilities around which personalised learning can take place.
Students are supported to explore their interests, combine academic work with real-world internships, and plan their own pathway to future employment, study or enterprise.
This can be done at school, in the community or through University of Wollongong College on-campus.
